Early Retirement

On April 13, 2024 I went to the hospital with back pain. Unfortunately, we found out that unrelated to the back pain, I also had Stage 4 Pancreatric Cancer with a prognosis of 6-9 months. Since then I have basically retired and plan to live out the remainder of my life as I orignally planned had I retired 8 years from now.

I have started chemothearpy and as of today completed 5 rounds that usually last 2 weeks long; however, an infected port caused me several days in the hospital and removal of the port. I am due to get one next Thursday and continue my chemo the Monday after.

My CA-19 (tumor marker) has came down signicantly from 1246, 1916, 630, 499, 222, and lastly 230. The CT done after round 4 showed mixed reults. The primary tumore and a couple of secondaries shrank, but one area appeared slightly larger. CT's are done after 4 rounds.

Overall, I am handling chemo better each time, and the CA-19 dropping shows the chemo is working.

The plan now is to travel as much and as often as we can either between chemo treatments or by skipping one treatment to get more days to travel, chich my Onchologist is all for. So stay tuned.
